Sibsagar is my ancestral home.

It is my parents' and grandparents' place, and generations further beyond. It was also my summer holiday home, and the land that Patkai was founded in honour of.

Right now, Sibsagar — along with Charaideo and Jorhat — has experienced the worst flooding in over sixty years. More than 600,000 people have been affected. Crops, homes, and livelihoods have been lost. The rivers whose waters nourish the tea gardens we source from have broken their banks and submerged entire communities.

This is not distant crisis. This is personal. And Patkai's response has to be personal too.

What Patkai is doing

From today until 30th September 2026, 50% of the profits from every sale made through the website and Amazon will go directly to flood relief in Upper Assam, through SeSTA, the Seven Sisters Development Assistance organisation.

SeSTA is an Assam-based organisation already on the ground in Sibsagar and Charaideo, delivering relief kits containing food, clean drinking water, medicines, sanitary supplies, mosquito nets, and first aid to families who have lost everything. Every contribution funds one complete relief kit for one family.

SeSTA — Seven Sisters Development Assistance — is based in Guwahati, Assam, and works across Northeast India on development, relief, and community support.
