WHY THESE FLOODS MATTER TO US

Sibsagar is my ancestral home.

It is the place of my parents and grandparents, and generations further beyond. It was my summer holiday home, and the land that Patkai was founded in honour of.

Right now, Sibsagar — along with Charaideo and Jorhat — is experiencing the worst flooding in over sixty years. More than 600,000 people have been affected. Crops, homes, and livelihoods have been lost. The rivers that run through these valleys — the same rivers whose waters nourish the tea gardens we source from — have broken their banks and submerged entire communities. The saddest part of these floods is that it is a man-made disaster, fuelled by greed, apathy and corruption at all levels.

This crisis is personal to me. And Patkai's response has to be personal too.

From today until 30th September 2026, 50% of the profit from every sale made through patkaitea.com and Amazon will go directly to flood relief in Upper Assam, through SeSTA, the Seven Sisters Development Assistance organisation which is an organisation that works to empower rural people in Northeast India, directly supporting livelihoods and promoting economic development.

Every order you place is a direct act of support for the people and the land this brand was built to honour.

Thank you for standing with Assam.
