Patkai was born out of a love for Assam, the place I was born in. I grew up drinking Assam tea, but left Assam as a teenager to pursue studies and career outside my native land. However, despite living abroad for over 2 decades, I have always felt strongly connected to my roots in Assam.
Moving to the UK, I was glad to finally find myself in a place with an equal love of tea. But I was disappointed to find that even in a tea-loving place such as the UK, people did not know how to make and drink real tea, having been too exposed to the "convenience" of tea-bags, and were overrun by coffee chains.
That's why I decided it was time to introduce the art of making tea to the wider world. I want to give people the confidence to boil the kettle, use a sieve and brew a cuppa: so you can take the time to recharge, revitalise and reconnect: with yourself and with others.
